6 injured as car burns in Colorado

A frightening car accident in Colorado left six people injured and one vehicle on fire. It happened on Interstate 25, in the northbound lanes, and it was so bad that the authorities had to shut down the popular highway.

The crash happened on Sunday, Dec. 15, right around 10:30 a.m. The police closed the road down for about 45 minutes, getting traffic moving again around 11:15 a.m.

Per the Colorado Springs Fire Department, one of the cars burst into flames and the other one suffered severe damage. They helped six people at the scene, some of whom had burn injuries, and brought them to local hospitals.

Pictures from the scene showed a firetruck parked in the middle of the road, presumably after the flames had been put out. The road was soaking wet around the truck and two firemen were working with one of the hoses. No damaged cars were visible in the shot, though it did show the sign for Exit 142, for Bijou Street, saying that it was about 3/4 of a mile beyond the crash site.

Stories like this really show the extreme danger people face in car accidents, even on what should have been a relaxing Sunday morning. Just one small mistake can send half a dozen people to the hospital as their cars burn on the pavement. It's dangerous out there, and drivers do not have control over the actions others take around them on the road.

With this in mind, if you get injured in an accident caused by another driver, make sure you know about all of your rights to financial compensation for your costs.
