As a cyclist, you know that the roads can be dangerous. If you are coming down a hill quickly and collide with a vehicle, it can be extremely dangerous and could result in death. If you and another vehicle are traveling close to a center line, even a minor impact with a mirror or handlebars could be enough to put you in the hospital. If you're struck by someone, it's important that the case is investigated, so you can make a claim against the driver.
If you are familiar with pro cycling, you may know the former professional cyclist Pul Zajicek. A recent report stated that he was involved in a serious collision that resulted in the amputation of his arm.
The news report out of Boulder stated that the 36-year-old man was traveling down Flagstaff Mountain with another six to eight cyclists when the accident took place. Coming down the mountain at great speeds in the group, the cyclists spread out to avoid impacting each other. However, that can mean some are close to the center line of the road, making it vital that drivers are in their own lanes completely. As the group came around a right-hand bend close to the bottom of the hill, the man struck a vehicle. He hit the truck's bed, resulted in the severing of his arm.
After the accident, he had to be transported to Boulder Hospital in serious condition. The driver of the truck stayed at the scene of the accident, and police are investigating which of the two men may have crossed the center line.
