On July 21, 2013, a motorcycle accident on I-70 near mile marker 9 in Mesa County Colorado resulted in the death of Charles Clark, 67, of Baltimore Maryland. Another man riding with him, who has not been identified, was airlifted to St. Mary's Hospital with serious injuries.

♦ Watch for hazards on the road such as large cracks, holes, and bumps. Also, keep an eye out for vehicles exiting from driveways and side streets;
♦ Make sure your headlight is on every time you ride so that you are clearly visible to other drivers;
♦ Take a motorcycle rider's course if you are new rider or if you simply need a refresher course on how to be a safe driver;
♦ Do not let anyone ride with you as a passenger unless you are skilled at riding in all kinds of conditions.
